Mega Man (Battle Network), known in Japan as Rockman.EXE, is the central protagonist of the Mega Man Battle Network series of video games. He exists within a futuristic, technologically advanced world centered on networked computers and personal digital assistants called PETs.

He is the NetNavi (Network Navigator) of Lan Hikari, a young boy who uses Mega Man to battle viruses and other NetNavis in the virtual world of the internet. Mega Man is presented as a sentient program capable of independent thought and action, but relies on Lan's operator skills for strategic command and BattleChip loading.

Unlike previous iterations of Mega Man, Battle Network's Mega Man is not a robot physically capable of movement. Instead, he exists entirely within the digital realm. Throughout the series, Mega Man evolves and gains new abilities through combat and data acquisition, assisting Lan in preventing various cyber threats and conspiracies.
